The Department of Defence has appointed Dr Vivienne Thom AM to conduct an independent review of the Defence Trade Controls ACT 2012. The review will look to examine if the Act is adequately safeguarding national defence capability and preventing trade and collaboration that could unknowingly advance military capabilities of potential adversaries. Initial submissions have closed, however an extension for secondary submissions has been made. The closing date is 31 July 2018.
